Project Description

SUDEVAB is an overarching project which has been designed by Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs) that are participating in the development of sustainable abalone aquaculture systems for the European abalone Haliotis tuberculata.

The SMEs identified the specific project research topics as the major constraints for the successful development of abalone aquaculture in Europe, and then selected the leading research institues in Europe that could undertake the research work needed - The RTDs.

SUDEVAB also has specialised sub-contractors supporting the research work using their existing facilities and specilaised knowledge, as well as an Industrial Consultancy Group (ICG) that contains the shellfish growers associations, and other interested stakeholders that can contribute to setting standards for sustainable abalone aquaculture in Europe.
